I can't think that it's all that easy to do, especially when swinging it pretty much like how one would swing a bat normally (the biggest thing I did notice is that he doesn't step into the swing). I think the equivalent with a golf club would be getting it to spin vertically. I can't even think of a way to do that and catch the club at the end short of maybe rolling it over your wrist or forearm.
